Dr Michael Caldwell on Fox & Friends JAN 1, 2026
On New Year’s Day, Dr. Michael C. Caldwell joined Dr. Nicole Saphier live on Fox & Friends for an extended national conversation about Dry January® USA, preventive health and why millions of Americans are rethinking their relationship with alcohol. Dr. Caldwell serves as Chief Medical Officer of Dry January® USA, which is proudly housed at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. This national appearance also marked the start of a historic year for Meharry as the institution launches its 150th anniversary celebration in 2026. During the interview, Dr. Caldwell discussed why Dry January® has become a mainstream public health movement, with nearly 70 million Americans participating each year and new data showing that only 54% of U.S. adults now drink alcohol, a record low. Americans are paying attention to the growing evidence linking alcohol to long-term health risks, including cancer, while also embracing the many immediate benefits of cutting back.
